Atlas

[in poetry]

Oh Atlas in your darkest of days
Who do you turn to
Where do you avert your gaze?
When the shadow of weight overcomes you
When your shoulders are near ready to crumble
How do you keep your knees from buckling
How do you wipe the beads of sweat
From adding onto the pool
Splashing around your toes.
Oh Atlas, great Titan king,
Do you ever wonder when it would lift
So you can finally feel light and free
To do whatever you wish.
Not bound by an unbearable load
Not frozen and set in stone
Carrying the weight of the world
All on your own.

Welcome, my friend. Or if we’ve known each other in my intermittent journey of trying to be a writer, welcome back. It’s nice to see you here.
